Just a few weeks ago we were extolling the virtues of Aaron Agg’s game after a run of good results and a hole-in-one, now its the turn of Dessie Hughes.  Dessie has been one of the most consistant performers over this winter, regularly collecting a prize for a placing, a win or producing a two to add to his growing account.  So his score of 51 points and a hole-in-one in the Club Stableford is just the form he is in at the moment and has been producing with annoying regularity.  I am always pleased to see a golfer in form, so well done Dessie its these purple patches of form that makes the sport worthwhile and so enjoyable, it brings you back to the course each week even when your game is not at its best.  That round of 51 points would give you a score of 3 over the course, not bad for an 18 handicapper Dessie…?  Steady Sam Jenkins had the best gross score!

Surprise surprise…. guess who won the Weekly Challenge, well done again Dessie Hughes you not only won it but you had the only recorded two of the competition!

The Team Challenge got underway this week, always a very popular event… its Loughgall’s pre-season warm up for matchplay golf for the season ahead.  Team Ulster Cup captained by Clive Currie were narrowly beaten by the Captains Team with this seasons Club Captain Eddie Millar at the helm….. 5.5 to 6.5 points.   Wilson Wanderers team  captained by Jason Wilson played the Ulster Cup Select team whose captain is Stephen Mullen, the outcome was a win to the Ulster Cup Select team beating them 9 points to 3.   Holt Shield team verses Willy Youngs team was postponed.

The Indoor Golf Competition which was run on Thursday evening was well attended, being a new event only brought in this year it can take time before people are aware of this fun but competitive event, but we are hoping it will become a regular winter shortener.  The results of the evening at Hoggs Bar was as follows…. winner of the nearest the pin sim golf was Harry Clougher with his excellent 12’8″ 4 iron shot 123 yards!  Second was Adrian Faulkner just 32’2″….. well done fellas!  In the putting competition Stephen Crowe putted like a demon to be top dog with Marty Dalzell the next best putter on the night but only after a 3 way put-off ….well done to all who took part.  Hope to see another good turn out at Hoggs Bar this Thursday 8 pm for more of the same!  Many thanks to Evan Simpson and his sim golf technology!
