We are coming to the last couple of weeks of February which marks the end of winter and then spring officially starts with the beginning of March. I mention this because the increase in competition participation with the Weekly Challenge, the Club Stableford and the Team Challenge all running with good numbers attending these events signifies the mind set is moving for many of our members that the start of the season is not far away. I think the weather could be far worse than we are getting at the moment and this is encouraging some golfers to get the clubs out of hibernation earlier than usual…. and its good to see!
Now some results, first of all we have the Weekly Challenge and we have a clear winner here, Patrick McCrory records a super round of 46 points which is 3 points clear of the next best score which was Denis Glass with 43 points. Sam Jenkins had the best gross score!
The Club Stableford was won by William Camblin with 41 points, in 2nd place Ian Megaw with 39 points and the best gross score was produced by Sam Jenkins once again, a round just 2 over the course! Well done all those prize winners and better luck next time to all that competed.

Indoor Golf at Hoggs Bar; Another decent turnout on Thursday night with a few more new faces including visitors from Armagh…..the more the merrier. This is a new fun event which will grow with time as word gets around, feedback has all been positive and the banter ninety!
The putting competition as always is very competitive but one man stood out and that was Harry Clougher who missed very little, the runner-up was Evan Simpson who also put on an excellent display of putting on the night. The sim-golf was also very entertaining, everyone had their swing analysed whether they wanted it or not by the wannabe comedians…., if anyone could understand him Harry Clougher would do well on “8 out of 10 cats”….lol. Anyway the nearest the pin was won by Stephen Wilson on the 1st hole…. 15’3″, the second hole for nearest the pin was won by Steve Wall just 9’5” from the pin. Well done to both of the Stephen’s also Harry and Evan! Same time next Thursday….8pm at Hoggs Bar.
AGM TUESDAY 7.45 at HOGGS BAR
Good luck and enjoy your golf!
