Our big sponsored Saturday competition was the PGA Qualifier, a big turnout for this event as always but the addition of a little sunshine is usually a factor in the number of entries recorded, its the icing on the cake for us golfers. Two excellent scores at the top of the leaderboard at the end of the days play, both Denis Glass and Clifford Ewart notched up scores of 44 points, however on the countback Denis Glass took 1st place and Clifford Ewart had to settle for the runner-up spot.  Very unlucky Clifford its never good to lose on the countback but there can only be one winner, so well done Denis Glass!

Derick Hynes took 3rd place with 38 points and the best gross score of 1 under par was acquired by young Adam Kerr!  Section winners were Stephen Graham 0-12, Jeff Armstrong 13-18, Alan Mills 19+, front 9 goes to Kyle Holmes and the back was won by Sean McCann.  The best seniors score was our club captain Kevin McCoy…. well done all the prize winners, thanks to everyone else for taking part and making the event so competitive!  There were 6 people with a two please check notice board for more details.

This is a bandit alert, warning regular golfers that there are still some people who can throw in a larger than life score in a competition.  This reasonably mild mannered man of average build and looks produced a score of 47 points in the Weekly Challenge this week, he goes by the name of Simon Wallace…. (Dick Turpin would be more appropriate) remember that name, a photo-fit picture will be made available to all club members on request for future reference.  The senior prize went to Brian McGuigan… well done fellas!

Our Ulster Cup team faced Moyola Park on Sunday and managed to beat them at home on the day 5-2, however the loss on the previous away leg at Moyola left too much to overturn their lead.  We were beaten by 6 holes by a very good Moyola Ulster Cup team, well done Moyola and good luck in your next round!  Unlucky all those who played a part in our Ulster Cup campaign, it was an early exit… we will have to try again next year, many thanks for your efforts!

The Holt Shield team played away at Carnalea at the weekend but could only manage 1 win out of the 5 individual matches, well done Jamie Mulholland for that win, unlucky for the rest of the team.  Better fortune for your next match!

The course is in excellent shape and the greens are improving with every week, the numbers entering the competitions are very healthy with the new members joining our club its all heading in the right direction….Loughgall Golf Club, tremendous value for money and a great place to play golf.  Make sure you get to grips with the online booking system, once you enter your particulars it will take a day to be authorised and then its ready to go.  Make use of the tee time booking system where possible, you dont want to turn up and find you cant get playing when you wanted because others have booked that time.  If your tee time is booked you have the right of way on the tee box, we are talking about during the week… anytime!

Any new members who need a little know how about competitions, how to enter, how to get your handicap, getting a tee time, using the computer or anything else just try ringing one of the numbers on the sheet pinned up on the door immediately to the left of the computer next to club office in the back.  Only too pleased to help, just ask!

Good luck and enjoy your golf!
