An exciting and busy weekend at Loughgall Golf Club started on Friday with the mixed foursomes kindly sponsored by Gilbert Law & Co…. an event which seems to grow each year.  The winning pairing was that of Adrian Faulkner and Nicola Spence with a score of 40 points, the next two pairings were so close they had to be seperated by means of a countback! In 2nd place was Lorraine Abbott & Eddie Millar pushing E.Mawhinney & Harry Clougher into 3rd position…both with 38 points, well done to all who took part.

Saturday was not a great day weather wise for golf, even so there was a good turnout for Sally McNally’s – Apple Blossom Open and some decent scores considering the conditions.  The best score of the day was William Camblin’s 43 points, close behind in 2nd place was Stephen Magill with 42 points, Fiona Martin had 40 points which was good enough for 3rd place!  Dave Chadwick took the 0-12 section, James O’Hagan took the 13-18 and Ian Megaw the 19 plus.  The best gross was taken by Jonathan Hewitt again, the best senior score belonged to David Murray.  Steve Wall had the best front 9 score and David McCool the best back nine….and apparently there was only one person with a two, considering the conditions it was not surprising…. the fella who got it deserved every penny and more!  Very well done all those in the prizes!

On Monday we had the Stonebridge Brassiere – Apple Blossom Open… Day 2.  The weather was beautiful, the course was bathed in sunshine and the country park was heaving with the crowds visiting the various marquees put up for the occasion, the place was absolutely buzzing!  However now to the golf, the sunshine not only brought out the crowds it brought out the high scores too!  Top score was Pat McCrory’s round of 48 points… 4 points better than Graham Buckley who had a round of 44 points and took 2nd place.  Its been a while but its good to see the name of Ian Magill on the leaderboard, 43 points gets Ian 3rd place.  Davy McRoberts had the best score in the 0-12 section, Graham Moore took the 13-18 section and Fiona Martin who had an excellent score on Saturday took the best 19+ score of the day.  Best front 9 belongs to Simon Wallace and the best back 9 was taken by Brian Nixon jnr, while Anthony Ball had the best score by a senior!  The overall best gross was that of Alan Pedlow who went round level par with the course, that sounds like a great round of golf Alan!  I think Loughgall suits your game Alan….perhaps you should consider joining us?

Thanks to everyone who put their efforts into making the Apple Blossom weekend the great success it has been, including the Country Park and all their staff!

The Murder Mystery NI sponsored Weekly Challenge prior to the Apple Blossom Open was won by Nelson Weir with 43 points, 2nd was Stephen Magill with 42 points and Willie McWilliams got beat on the countback to take 3rd place… well done fellas!

The Wednesday Sweep is now up and running, this season it will be a qualifying event and there will be an overall winner!  This week the winner was Stephen Magill, well done Stephen you are in fine form!

Good luck and enjoy your golf!
