Selection of Team Captains 2014
The club council would like to invite all members who think they have good managerial and motivational skills to take charge of one of the clubs teams for 2014 season to put their names forward.
As a team captain, you would be in charge of selecting a panel of players, to represent club at interclub competitions, in most cases, home and away. You would also be responsible for communicating with opposing teams and arranging dates for matches to be played.
We would like all captains to have a non playing role; this is to ensure that their team are getting the best information and support about the team’s position throughout the competition.
All captains will be expected to adhere to clubs dress code on golf course and ensure their players do likewise.(Home and away).
We would also like all captains, to select their teams from players who are excelling in that particular year. A mixture of experience and performance can be a great formula for success.
Vital attributes to a captain role are listed below
Communication, Make sure arrangements are made in plenty of time, and that your players are always kept up to date.
Coaching, a captain role is a yearlong role and as such the captains are expected to take time to identify, get to know, coach, motivate all members of their team to perform to the max when required.
Will to win (never say die attitude), As the leader we expect you to show confident andpositivity in your teams ability. A confident player is always a better player.
The club feel that we can win a major trophy and highly motivated captains leading high motivated teams is how we will achieve our goals and firmly put Loughgall Golf Club on the map.
Loughgall competitions 2014
For higher handicaps
Junior Cowdy: Handicaps no lower than 18 on day of match, team of 8 players, Fourball matchplay, Age limit 20 or above
Ulster Fourball: Handicaps no lower than 17 in 2013, team of 10 players, Fourball matchplay, Age limit 35 or above
For middle handicaps
Ulster Cup: Handicaps no lower than 10 in 2013, team of 7 players, Singles matchplay, Age limit 30 or above
Rossmore Cup: Handicaps no lower than 12 on day of match, team of 8 players, Fourball matchplay, Age limit 20 or above
Pierce Purcell Shield: Handicaps no lower than 12 in 2013, team of 10 players, Foursomes, Qualifying Round, qualifiers go into matchplay rounds, Age limit 18 or above
For lower handicaps
Junior Cup: Handicaps no lower than 5 in 2013, team of 5 players, Singles, Qualifying Round, qualifiers go into matchplay rounds
Jimmy Bruen Shield: Handicaps no lower than 6 in 2013, team of 10 players, Foursomes, Qualifying Round, qualifiers go into matchplay rounds
Holt Shield: Handicaps no lower than 6, team of 5 players, Singlesmatchplay
