Loughgall Golf Club, weekly update of events….

We are into July now so the weather should be perfect and with the course in such great shape where better to spend your time than on the golf course… life is short so get out there and enjoy!

Our Saturday competition was the Past Captains Cup, another great turnout for this event and a great competition to win!  The 2015 winner of this  competition is Jonathon Faulkner playing off a 20 h.cap, his 46 points was well clear of any of his competitors the next best score was that of Willie Fenton on 41 points, Noel Hegarty also had 41 points but beat into 3rd place on a countback.  We have not seen that much of Jonathan Hewitt in recent weeks but he is back with a bang…. a gross 69 was the best of the day! Section winners were Alan Magill 0-12, Nelson Weir 13-18, Steve Wall 19+.  The front nine went to Edwin Atkinson and the back nine was won by Graham Buckley, the best senior score was that of Walter Beattie with 39 points.  There were only 5 two’s and they were acquired by Pat Keegan, Ryan Beattie, Stuart Eagle, Jonathan Hewitt and Willie Fenton… well done fella’s!

The Weekly Challenge sponsored by Murder Mystery NI was won this week by Cecil Brownlee with a walloping 47 points!  It’s not unusual for Cecil to come up from out of the blue with a spectacular round every once in a while.  Although there are a few who can produce the occasional cracker of a score, thank goodness for the rest of us it only occasionally.  In 2nd place was Graham Moore and 3rd place was new boy to the club Drew Willis, well actually new old boy… he has re-joined the fold.  There was only one 2 and that was by Brian McGuigan.

The 18 Hole Junior competition was won by John Harrison on 40 points, 2nd was Daniel Brown on 35 points.

June player of the month is the very competitive Ben Currie with Emmett Lavery and Fin Walsh in 2nd and 3rd place respectively.  Very well done lads, you’re going from strength to strength!
