Loughgall Golf Club, weekly report….
An excellent turnout for the BJ Mullen & Sons sponsored Stableford event and some pretty good scores too! The weather is on the up again, well at least for a while and the golfer who made the most of the conditions taking 1st place was Patrick McCrory his 43 points…. the best score of the day! I have to say, I posed the question the other week… could those big scoring winners of the winter produce the goods once the official season got underway and Patrick has proved he is more than capable, well done mate! Second was Andy Currie…42 points, just one behind Patrick, 3rd was Willie Crozier…41 points. The best gross score was that of Jonathan Hewitt, the first of many if the previous few seasons are anything to go by!
Section winners…19+ W Fenton, 13-18 K McCoy, 0-12 E Scullion, seniors Rodney Clarke, front was won by Brian Nixon and the back nine goes to Graham Buckley. Well done all those in the prizes and unlucky to those who competed but was not good enough on the day!
The Weekly Challenge was won by Anthony Ball with 41 points just pushing Dessie Hughes into 2nd place on the countback, the best gross was taken by Evan Simpson…. well done fellas!
I mentioned in the last report that we could all be helping our club in many ways, especially our junior section. I’m sure we all know friends with children or family members who may enjoy the opportunity to learn golf, so why not ask them? We have Davy McRoberts and Vivian Teague ready and willing to show them all they need to know about golf and making it great fun too! Lets make the effort, it wouldn’t take much if we all put the word about that Loughgall is a great course and excellent for juniors of all ages!
