The weather forecast for our 1st sponsored competition of the 2016 season was not too encouraging, rain was expected to play it’s part. However it was a reasonable day, but some areas of the fairway were quite soft underfoot…. the rain had obviously done it’s work overnight, fortunately most of us escaped the showers.
Our sponsored event was the Famous Grouse Stableford Competition, one of our long established competitions which we have very strong links with and no finer place for a good meal! The results were… 1st Sean McCann with an excellent 43 points, Willie McWilliams score of 40 points means he is once again the bridesmaid and not the bride, our vice captain Aidie Faulkner just one point behind with 39 points and the 1st best gross score of this season belongs to Jonny McNabb! Section winners were: 0-11 club captain Stephen Wilson, 12-18 Aaron Agg and 19+ was won by our club president Cecil Brownlee. The best senior score was that of Walter Beattie, Brendan Farmer had the best front 9 and Ian Gorgeous Gordon snatched the back nine. There were 13 two’s and one person was greedy enough to get two of them…. Mr Aaron Agg! Very well done fellas and a great start to the 2016 season for Sean McCann!
The Weekly Challenge sponsored by Murder Mystery NI…. The winner this week is Stuart Eagle with a walloping 46 points, that’s six points clear of the next best score which belonged to past captain Eddie Millar! The best gross was that of Wayne Crawford who seems to be producing some decent golf!
The Junior 18 hole competition was won by Ryan Tennyson, 2nd was Shea Williamson and 3rd Nathan Ewart. The lads that went to the Irish Open Skills Challenge just missed out on qualifying but had a good day despite it, the experience will do them no harm at all! Thanks to Clive Currie and helper on the day Colin Weir for making it all possible for the trip up at Greenmount.
Just a wee note regarding Mr John Allen’s mishap with his team’s scorecard last week, the latest insider information suggests it was not John who made the error but another team member, however all the team have to sign the card therefore it rests equally on each member of the team. As for the numeracy course for adults to start last Friday with Mr Allen……. April fool’s day?
Good luck and enjoy your golf!
