Jason Wilson is having a great season, he won our Captains Day competition in awful conditions, has had several excellent scores and now shoots a level par round to take this weeks Glenview Trophies sponsored strokeplay event. Jasons 45 points and recent fine form has earned him a handicap cut from 9 to 6, this should be a real test of character, we will see if Jasons mind game is able to cope with being a low handicapper again? Well done mate! Jason was not the only excellent round produced on Saturday… Paul Lavery has been cut 2 shots after his score of 44 points and could well have been this weeks winner but for Jasons 45 points! The next best score and a good 3rd place was Edwin Atkinsons 41 points which brings Edwins handicap down to 15. The best gross score was (sit down before you read this one) John Allen with his round of 79, well done John! The best senior score was the man with the magic 9 wood Eddie Millar on 40 points, although he is not bad with some of those other clubs too! Section winners were Clive Currie 0-12, Club President Kevin Keegan 13-18, William Camblin 19+, front 9 Club Captain Kevin McCoy and the back 9 went to Ian Beaddie, well done all the prize winners!
Mark Placitt had an excellent points score of 42 points to win the Weekly Challenge, well done Mark!
Some of Loughgall Golf Club regulars went to the home of golf over the weekend to play in the Public Courses Competition held on the Eden course at St Andrews, unofficial reports from those who were fortunate to play on Sunday… everyone seemed to appreciate the occasion and enjoy the experience with the best finish being that of Adam Kerr taking 3rd place, so well done to Adam and everyone else who took part. Those of you that have not heard of the Eden course its over 100 years established and a true test of ability, especially if the wind blows?
Once again the juniors were getting tuition on Saturday afternoon and a wee unofficial competition amongst the group which seems to be enthusiastically contested by all. Davy McRoberts and club pro Vivian Teague are producing the next champions at Loughgall Golf Club, it will all come to fruition in time….enjoy!
Just a mention about this Sunday the Edenderry Golf Classic is being held, although not a Loughgall Golf Club competition, LGC members can enter for £10. Tee times from 10am until 11.30am, check notice board area for more info regarding prizes etc.
A word of thanks to the ground staff at Loughgall, the work being done now will pay dividends later on!
Good luck and enjoy your golf!
