The Darren Clarke Trophy Qualifier was the main event of the week, a week of excellent weather and superb golfing conditions! A weekend watching Rory win the the Claret Jug was very inspiring…. Especially for Davy McCrory, his round of 73 shots just one over the course got Davy a nett score of 61 playing off a 12 handicap, this was too good on the day for the rest of the field, an excellent win Davy! Second place was Nigel Hutchingson with a nett 63, followed by Evan Simpson’s nett 64, nice shooting fellas! The best gross score was that of Kyle Holmes… a round of 77 shots!
Section winners were Kris Hunniford 0-12, Graham Buckley 13-18, Brian Adair 19+, front 9 was won by Colin Jeffers and the back 9 by Noel Cooke. The best senior score was the round of Denis Glass a nett 69!
The Weekly Challenge was well contested with some excellent scores being produced, 1st place goes to Seamus Golding with 42 points closely chased by Eddie Millar on 41 points, great scoring!
The Wednesday Sweep sponsored by Nutmeg Treasures was won by Sam Jenkins!
The Sunday Sweep was won with an excellent 40 points by Lee Kirrane, well done Lee…. all that hard work is paying off mate!
The Ulster 4 ball team who have cleverly negotiated previous rounds are in quarter finals and will be playing Port Stewart in two weeks time in the first leg of their match, I hope our team enjoy the seaside cos its going to be an important weekend on a mature links course. Good luck fellas, give it your best!
This weekend our Sam Rutherford team went to Killymoon for the second leg of the match, previously we manage narrow win at home. It was once again a very tight match that was won by just a couple of holes by Killymoon but you can only give it your best on the day and Sunday was not our day! Very well done Killymoon good luck in your next round and commiserations to our Sam Rutherford team!
Just a reminder… Captains Day is only two Saturdays away, so make sure your name is on the list on the notice board if you want to play in the competition. Its always a great competition to take part in with an excellent evening at the Famous Grouse to follow, if you have never played Captains Day and attended the evening meal you are in for a real treat… its as good as any golf club around!
Good luck and enjoy your golf!
