Loughgall Golf Club
Team Challenge 2014
The Team Challenge is a team competition design as both a trial & practises for inter-club competition.
Players will be divided based on their handicap ranges and will only compete in a match play format that they are eligible to represent Loughgall Golf Club.
2014 formats and handicap ranges are listed below;

Competition Draw
Players will be split into teams. Each team will consist of equal numbers of players for each of the 4 handicap categories above. One of the interclub team captains will be appointed to lead each team.
Match Format
Individual Match formats are listed below;
- Match Format 1
- Singles matches
- Category A or B players only
- Match played of scratch
- Match Format 2
- Singles matches
- Category B or C players only
- Match played of scratch
- Match Format 3
- Fourball matches
- Category C players only
- Match played of ¾ handicap allowance off the low man
- Match Format 4
- Fourball matches
- Category D players only
- Match played of ¾ handicap allowance off low man
Each fixture will consist of at least one match from each of the 4 formats above. The exact number of matches in each format will depend on the number of players available.
Every effort will be made to ensure all players are involved. If this cannot be done within the above formats, the Team Captain may agree an alternative format – I.e. singles match with full handicaps allowance to ensure all players take part.
Match Scoring
In each match there are 3 marks available. 1 mark for front nine, 1 mark for back nine, and 1 mark for overall. If any of these are halved – 0.5 of a mark will be awarded to each team.
The winning team will be determined by the team with the most marks at the conclusion of all matches.
If the marks are equal at the end of the match, a draw is declared.
Competition Format
The competition will be run on a league basis with 6 teams playing each other over 5 weeks.
Points are awarded for each fixture – 3 points for a win or 1 point each for a draw.
The league will be determined on a point’s basis.
If points are equal, then the % of marks attained will be used. If teams still can’t be separated the total number of marks will be used.
Prizes
Team Prizes will be awarded to the top 2 teams in the League
Individual Prices will be awarded to the most valuable players in each of the 4 categories based on % of marks that the player has won.
