Steve Wall had 42 points which was more than good enough to see off the competition on Saturday past, infact he had two holes he never scored any points at all, so there could have been a greater gap between 1st and 2nd.  Steven`s victory means he has been cut to a 19 handicap which will please many of us who know what he is capable of when his game comes together, nevertheless its good to see Steves game improve.  Towards the end of last season it looked like the clubs would be donated to the charity shop, but a few lessons got Steven back on track and now the game seems to be more enjoyable for him…. dont be enjoying yourself too much though, the rest of us would like to have a little success aswell!

Second and third place went to Adam Kerr and Steven Kane respectively, both scoring 39 points, with the course set up at its maximum length they were very good scores, only seven scores were better than par 36 out of eighty seven starters?  The gross prize was won by Jonathan Hewitt and the seniors prize went to Neil Walker.
Section winners were Michael Connor 0-12, Graham Buckley 13-18, Simon Wallace 19+, front 9 went to Brian Nixon jnr and the back 9 was won by young Willie McWilliams!
There were nine 2s recorded and they were by Neil Walker, Richard Abbott, Sam Duffy, Seamus Golding, Michael Connor, Willie Fenton, Steven Kane, Gary Jordan and Mark Placitt.

The course is looking in great shape but just keep out of the jungle, commonly known as the rough.  If you do have to go after a ball in the rough tie a rope to yourself and get your mate to hold the other end before entering.  If you have no mates just tie the rope to a tree, but it does not matter too much cos if you have no mates you wont be missed….lol.  Seriously though, if the club and the course are concerned about losing custom, try looking in the long grass.  I know we should not be putting the ball in there but it happens and it sure does scare prospective members away and some existing members have already questioned their membership!  It also slows play considerably, its worth a ponder?

It was an excellent turnout for the competition and may well have been more but for the popularity of Jason Wilson and his marriage the day before, we all wish Jason and Julie the very best for their future together.

Loughgall had a team entered in the Irish Junior Cup which was held on Sunday at Killymoon Golf Club, the team were Jonny McKnight, Derick Hynes, Andy Currie, Wayne Crawford and Sam Jenkins.  Unfortunately we just missed out on qualifying but well done fellas all the same, special thanks to Norman Weir who was a great help to the team, much appreciated.  One of the playoffs for those that qualified will be held at Loughgall, details will follow.

Each Saturday there are a number of tee time slots not being used, if you dont use these tee times someone else will be given that slot.  We have a number of new members who are keen to take up a tee time, the only way to keep your tee time is to use it.  Use it or lose it!

The next competition will be the St Andrews Qualifier….. good luck, its a great competition to win.  Enjoy your golf!
