Welcome to the 2024 Loughgall Ladies golfing season. This year we celebrate the 18th birthday for the Loughgall Ladies Golf Club and I am privileged to take up the position of Lady Captain for the upcoming year. I look forward to a great year of golfing with you all.
There are some exciting new developments for the upcoming season as we get our greens repaired. Throughout this period the council has harmonised golf membership between our club and Silverwood golf club, with this opportunity starting on 1st April. Our courses play well all year round, seven days a week. Both courses offer beautiful views and a challenging test for any standard of golfer. They are pay-and-play courses and open to non-members, however there are resident clubs for keener players who will then benefit from having a CONGU handicap maintained for them, and from entry into club competitions and events.
Overall, if your goal is a golfing challenge in appealing surroundings at a reasonable price, then you will have found it at Loughgall with the added bonus of being a member in Silverwood Craigavon. For the first year ever (2024/2025) Membership Fees include the use of the two golf courses. We are delighted with this golden opportunity. This is certainly not to be missed. Members can choose to pay the annual subscription up front or by monthly Direct Debit. Discounted green fees and other concessions are available at reception. Rates are very competitive and well worth checking out.
Our first event of the year was an outing to Portstewart Riverside Course. This was a wonderful day of golfing alongside the meandering banks of the River Bann. A day thoroughly enjoyed by one and all which reignited great interest to get back out to golf after the winter season.
Our second group event this year was a fun night for new ladies on the golf simulator under the instruction of our Professional Vivian Teague. The state-of-the-art golf simulator was a great experience for our new ladies and proved very popular. The simulator is perfect for beginners or for those wishing to brush up on existing technique. Vivian was able to guide us every step of the way and the onscreen video analysis highlighted every aspect of our ability – or lack of it! Also many thanks to Club Secretary Eileen Mc Clean for securing a Council Community Development grant. This will help facilitate new members to join our “Get into Golf” scheme.
Our club Professional Vivian Teague brings fun into golf and is available for lessons. He can be contacted via reception 02838891029 or on Mob 07775700355. Ladies main competition day is Saturday and this enviable position is one we are proud of and pleased to uphold. In fact ladies have no playing restrictions and tee slots are easily secured with our online booking system or by contacting reception.

Lastly, my ethos as Lady Captain is to ensure that everyone is welcomed and that we enjoy a relaxed and wonderful year of golf. Myself, Bernie and Vice-Captain Caiti Hanna would be very pleased to hear from anyone wishing to join our Ladies section. Irrespective of ability, a warm welcome awaits new members and visitors to the club. So far 2024 is looking good and with your help we can deliver a great year of fun, friendships and golf across our club.
