Loughgalls first Stableford Competition of the Official 2012 Season

Frost for the start of our competition on Saturday but overall the weather was very good to us and on occasion some sunshine. The course was playing longer than we have become accustomed to with the white markers back in use, but for some players this was not a problem.

Best score of the day and overall winner was Jamie Wortley with 40 points, 2nd Stephen Mullan 39 points, 3rd & 4th Wayne Crawford and Stephen Thompson also on 39 points but beat on the countback.

The Gross prize goes to Jonathan Hewitt, front 9 prize goes to Adam Galbraith and the back to Stephen Wilson.

There were 8 two’s this week and they went to; Jamie Wortley, Stephen Wilson, Harry Proctor, Brian Nixon jnr, Cecil Brownlee, Alan Magill and Jonathan Hewitt with 2 two`s.
Well done to all the prize winners, to everyone else who played but was not good enough on the day there is another competition next week and another opportunity to excel.

Some information to pay attention to:
On competition day please make sure you sign in to the computer before playing your round of golf and enter your score on return. Your scorecard must have the following information on it to be accepted…. Your name, Competition name, Date & Time and your Correct Handicap. The scorecard must be correctly added up, signed by yourself and the person who marked the card, any adjustments initialled by the marker and must be clearly read. This card must then be put in the competition box below the computer. These are the basic requirements for your score to be valid in the competition. Its your own responsibility to check that your card is correctly filled in.

A reminder that club green fees need to be paid by the end of this month, there will be someone at the starter hut to take your money on Saturday morning before you play your competition.
Another reminder, the singles and doubles competitions which are on our notice board need entry fees paid before 7th April, the notice board has had this information for some time to allow everyone enough time to enter and pay the required fee, dont leave it to the last moment and chance missing out on the competition.

This weeks competition is The Famous Grouse, this will be our first sponsored event of the season and an excellent competition to win…. if you think you are good enough?

Please pay attention to the signage at the 1st tee box, make sure you are aware of the conditions of play for the competition ie, Preferred lies…Lift clean and place…Lift clean and drop….Place on the fairway, drop in the rough. If you start playing to the wrong rules you are likely to either lose any points for those holes played or be disqualified, this has happened to several players this week so remember to check the rules in play for the day at the 1st tee.

Those 4 balls going out very early on a Saturday need to be aware that the course does not open until 7.30am this weekend but the following weekends it will open at 7am, also from April the course will be open until 8pm and from May the course will close at 10pm.

We have a great season in store for us, get out get practicing and enjoy your golf!
