The first club stableford of the official 2014 season has been won by Rodney Clarke, if I remember correctly Rodney had a good start to the 2013 season… so we can definitely confirm you are no plonker Rodney! (Only fools and horses pun).
Robert Mawhinney came 2nd, Jonathan Hewitt won the best gross and the section winners were; David Mitchell who took the plus 19s, Jeff Armstrong the 13-18s and a pleasant surprise to see John Allen taking the 0-12 section! Its a good start to the season for those previously mentioned, there were also 7 twos recorded so check the club notice board for more details.
The continuation of the team challenge took place on Saturday and a fiercely contested match between the top two teams went blow for blow. Sam jenkins talked tactics with his team before entering the field of play, they needed to do well to prevent Jason Wilsons team from claiming a victory and overall winners of the Team Challenge with a match left to play? Team Wilson narrowly beat team Sam Jenkins by one point, that 8 -7 win means Team Wilson are 2014 winners of the Team Challenge, well done team Wilson! Well done to all those who took part in the the Team Challenge, it was slightly drawn out due to a number of reasons but mainly the wet conditions earlier in the year, many thanks to everyone who participated.
The winner of the stableford competition on Sunday was non other than our own 2014 Club Captain Kevin McCoy…. a Club Captain leading by example. Well done Kevin, but if you want to be remembered as a popular captain dont do it again….lol.

Your 2014 membership sticker will be available this Saturday morning up to 11am, after which you should enquire at reception, you will need your sticker to confirm you are a fully paid up member of the club, the sticker needs to be easily seen on your golf bag.
