The weather has been relatively good to us over the past week or so but the threat of a shower or two is never far away… hey this is Northern Ireland we shouldn’t expect too much sunshine, warmth or settled conditions….lol.

The recent foursome trials was run last Saturday and the results are as follows: the pairing of Robert Treanor and Matthew Lavery were the best of the bunch and take the spoils.  In the mixed doubles the best pairing was Sam Jenkins and Lorraine Abbott, (I heard Lorraine totally carried Sam?) so their efforts will be rewarded by a topping up of their individual accounts.  Vouuchers can be redeemed by contacting James O’Hagan our new club treasurer.

This Saturday the competition is foursomes once again, I know this is not everyones favourite format but we have a number of inter-club competitions which we as a club have entered and are of this format.  This is the only way to improve on previous years where we have fallen short of the mark, its a sensible and logical approach which we hope will reap rewards?

I hope everyone has their name on the list found on the club notice board for the Captains Drive, its a shotgun start and kicks off at 8.30 on Saturday 29th March, however you need to be at the course for 8am sharp!  It would be particularly worthwhile for new members, or anyone that dont know many of the other golfers at our club, players will be randomly put together so if you dont know anyone you definitely will once you turn up….8am sharp remember!  Get your name on the Captains Drive list asap or risk not getting a tee time.

Club subscripton fees are due before the end of March!  There will be someone available to collect your subs this Saturday 22nd March & next Saturday 29th March from 7.30am til approximately 10am, next saturday upto the time of shotgun start. So that will be in the reception area or the starter hut. If you dont pay your fees before April you wont be eligible to play in the competitions or make use of club tee times until fees are paid.

Once again just reiterating the word going around the club about the fantastic condition of the course, Loughgall Country Park have done themselves proud, I have no doubt that the way the course is being presented can and will only increase the number of golfers wanting to join the club and play at Loughgall!  A course this well looked after with reasonable green fees and an excellent chance of getting your golf played when you want (saturday & sunday time slots still available), when golfers from other clubs play this course they cant help be impressed.  Even now we can still improve, both the golf club and the country park are looking forward…. more forward thinking which can and will improve golf at Loughgall.

Please check the notice board for upto the moment information regarding competitions and forthcoming events.  Good luck and enjoy your golf!
