It has to be said the weather has been reasonably good, but it’s not reached the level we would expect from a heatwave, however it is still supposed to be on it’s way.  Regarding the general chitchat in the club, it is mostly about the great condition the course is in, the greenkeepers are certainly earning their money at the moment, if the course keeps as good as this all year they would need to be asking for a bonus…. well there is no harm in trying!

Now some results…..Saturday’s Better Ball Competition goes as follows: Two man team winners were… Andy Forde & Wayne Crawford with 47 points, runners-up were James Curran & Noel Hegarty with 45 points.  Three man team winners were… Alan Magill, Stephen Magill & Willie Gracey with 52 points, runners-up were Mal Cullen, Pat Keegan & Sean McKeever with 52 points beat on the countback.   Four man team winners were…Jonny Lockhart, Stephen Graham, Ryan Beattie & David Kelly with 59 points, runners-up were… Robert Treanor, Stuart Treanor, Sean McCann & Clive Currie with 55 points.  Well done fellas, some good team scoring!

The Junior 18 hole competition was won by Ben Currie with an excellent 43 points, runner-up also with 43 points was Sam Rainey, John Harrison came 3rd with 38 points.  Well done lads!

The Sam Rutherford competition was a close run thing, although we went to Royal County Down with a slight advantage from our home leg it wasn’t enough to win the tie, Royal County Down won by two holes in very trying weather conditions.  Unlucky LGC, but we would like to wish RCD the very best in the competition.

A couple of reminders…. please make contact asap with your opponents in the singles and doubles competition, get the match played in good time  before the date to be played by!  Also a word about the rakes in the bunkers…keep them in there not around them please.

Good luck and enjoy your golf!
