We will not talk about the weather this week… only to say it is very non-descript. The competition on Saturday was the ever popular Hoggs Bar stableford event, the conditions seemed to catch a lot of people out! The best score of the day was 38 points from Ryan Kennedy playing off a 22 h.cap, 2nd and 3rd place also had 38 points, that was Paul Hughes off a 16 h.cap and John Alfante off a 28 h.cap, less than 10 scores better than their h.cap. Jonny McNabb had a round of 78 which gave him the best gross score and our Vice-Captain Stephen Wilson got the best senior score by playing to his handicap. Section winners were Stephen Graham 0-12, Alan Mills 13-18, Malachy Cullen 19+, front 9 goes to Dessie Hughes and the back nine to Seamus Golding….well done fellas maybe the rest of us will get in on the prizes next week?
The Weekly Challenge sponsored by Murder Mystery NI was won with an excellent score of 44 points by Edwin Atkinson who was 3 points clear of the next best player on the day Seamus Golding picking up 41 points. Mal Cullen had 40 points to take 3rd place just pushing young Willie McWilliams out of the prizes on a countback…. thats life.
The 9 hole junior competition on Saturday was won by Daniel Brown, 2nd place was Emmett Lavery and 3rd place was Nathan Agg, well done lads!
This Saturday is another big competition in our golfing calendar, Kevin Keegan’s Presidents Day, it’s right up there with the best competitions which everyone would like to win and a magnificent trophy to have your name on. Mr President has provided some excellent prizes too! We just hope the weather will play it’s part? An important divot repair night on Thursday evening at 6pm so please make the effort to help get the course in the condition suitable for a Presidents Day… many hands make light work! Good luck to Kevin on Saturday who has had to follow the big shoe’s of James Hewitt our previous president, have a good day!
Good luck and enjoy your golf!
