Well what links these five fella’s…. they are all winners this week! Ok so Rory has no official link with LGC, but Im sure I could have a word with the LGC committee/council and sway them in favour of an honourary membership for the young fella…lol.
Keegans Bar strokeplay event was a hotly contested competition, so close was the result that it was a fourway tie! It took a countback to seperate them, all four turned in a nett 66, however there was a winner and that was Nigel McCrory! Second place was Harry Clougher and 3rd was Brendan Farmer! Best gross score belonged to Jonathan McNabb with a score of 78. Section winners were Stephen Wilson 0-12, Raymond Henry 13-18, David Murray 19+, front 9 went to our very own Kevin Keegan (Club President and event sponsor), while the back 9 was won by Lee Kirrane. The best senior score was posted by George Lockhart, a nett 70! Well done all the prize winners and an extra special prize for David Mitchell who had a hole-in-one, he receives £75 for his efforts!
Nutmeg Treasures sponsored Wednesday Sweep was won once again from by Nelson Weir! The Weekly Challenge was won by Davy McRoberts with his points score of 43!
This week the St Andrews Qualifier was played at Silverwood Golf Club, a competition which is much revered and near the top of events people would like to win. LGC had a good amount of success with Adam Kerr coming 1st with 43 points, other qualifiers were Alan Robinson, Aaron Agg, Davy Coote, Wayne Crawford and two players from Silverwood… Fintan McAreavey got best gross score and Matthew Madden also claimed his place at the home of golf. Well done fellas!
Loughgall’s Ulster 4 ball team played against Portstewart last week and were beat 3-2 at home leaving a little bit of work to do on the away leg. Well the match was pushed all the way and we managed 2.5 points to Portstewarts 2.5 points but unfortunately that was not good enough on the day and Portstewart go through to the semi-finals. A slightly better result at home was needed but you cant knock our Ulster 4 ball team who have had a great run, also team captain John Currie who worked so well with his team. Yes we are disappointed but very proud too! John wanted to thank all his players for their committment to the team, they were a pleasure and privaledge to captain! Good luck Portstewart in the next round!
Good luck and enjoy your golf!
