I dont want to speak too soon but this weather reminds me of summer…warmth and sunshine, is that summer weather in Nortern Ireland? Ok so that means we have about two weeks to get a tan, buy a paddling pool and maybe visit Portrush, Newcastle or somewhere else where you can see the sea and get some sand between your toes! Alternatively you could make the most of our wonderful facility at Loughgall… get out and play some golf! The course is in fine condition, as good as just about any other public course around and many private courses too…. just ask any visitor playing our course and you will find a similarly glowing account of their experience here. Just think if we had some catering facilities to match the course…. the number of members would double in no time?
The Wednesday Sweep sponsored by Nutmeg Treasures was won by Davy McRoberts this week, Davy has a good record in this competition over the past few years and despite his handicap being greatly reduced he is still competitive…. it just shows what a bandit he was previously. Well done Davy!
The Weekly Challenge is increasing in popularity and a good competition to win, its non-qualifying and played off the green markers. This week 1st place went to Anthony(Alan)Ball with Noel Cooke taking runner-up spot. Alan is one of those players that will produce a few very good rounds during the season which would make you question his handicap, but its only a matter of time and consistancy before his h.cap comes down 2 or 3 shots… well done Alan. Just a mention of runner-up Noel Cooke who has started to put some good scores together, although a high handicapper at the moment his form suggests there is better golf to come and a cut in handicap, keep it up Noel!
Saturdays big competition was the S&J Graphix 3 or 4 Ball Scramble Event, some very good scores were produced and I am sure some teams thought they were in with a chance? The winning team came in with 52 points, an excellent score from Wayne Crawford, Sam Jenkins, Jackson Ruddock and the crucial member of their team was Noel Cooke a high handicapper in form! Very well done fellas it took all four of you to to click together for that score. However the runners-up were only a point behind, very unlucky Ian Gordon, Walter Beattie, Stephen Graham and Mark Gilpin….good scoring but just short.
No results from the Sunday Sweep.
Tandragee came to sunny Loughgall on Sunday to play our Ulster 4 Ball team, team captain John Currie has come away with a 3.5 to 1.5 win. The 2nd leg will be played at Tandragee this coming weekend, good luck fellas!
Please check the club notice board for more upto date info, also anyone in knock-out competitions should make sure their matches are played on time, make contact with your opponent asap and get your match played!
This Saturday we have a stableford event sponsored by Murder Mystery NI…..well it will be no surprize to me to see a good turnout with the excellent weather predicted for the weekend, we should get plenty of run on the firm fairways… the big hitters should murder the course, no mystery there? Good luck and enjoy your golf!
