Another busy week at Loughgall Golf Club, so lets get down to the results: The Sunday Sweep on May 25th saw an excellent turnout considering there were several club teams in action, but there was a worthy winner and that was Barry Rayner just a point ahead of the chasing pack.  The 9 hole Nutmeg Treasures sponsored Wednesday Sweep held on May 28th was won by Nelson Weir with Darren Wilson taking the runner up position…. well done fellas!  The Weekly Challenge is as popular as ever and this weeks winner is Nigel McCorry with Pat Keegan coming in 2nd place, there were 4 twos recorded!

Possibly the most popular event of the year other than the Captains Day and Presidents Day competitions, the St Andrews Qualifier always draws in the numbers…and why not, who would not want to play at St Andrews the home of golf…?  1st place and winner of the competition is Kyle Holmes shooting a gross 77 playing off a 10 handicap, gives Kyle a nett 67!  However it was not the only nett 67, 2nd place Robert Treanor playing off an 11 handicap was beaten on the countback, very unlucky Robert.  The best gross score was Adam Kerr taking just 74 shots playing off a 4 handicap, great golf Adam!  3rd was Alan Robinson just a shot behind with a nett 68!  Only prizes for 1st and best gross. There were 22 twos recorded, please check the club notice board for more detailed info including the names of those who have got through to the play off.  Well done Kyle, an excellent win… its good to see you back at Loughgall playing great golf!

It was a tough day for Loughgall’s Junior Cowdy team at Lisburn Golf Club on Sunday… Lisburn 4 Loughgall 0.  Meanwhile our Rossmore Team were at Downpatrick putting up a solid performance.  After all the matches were played the teams were standing all square, extra holes had to be played to produce a winning team, unfortunately it only went to the one extra hole and the home team of Downpatrick manage a win.  A hard fought match with a disappointing result for Loughgall, but we wish both Lisburn and Downpatrick the very best in their respective competitions, unlucky Loughgall better fortune next time!

This Saturday is the Presidents cup a stableford competition which we are hoping will be blessed with warm summer conditions and a big turnout, good luck and enjoy your golf!
