In this unprecedented year the golf club like other organisations has been seriously affected by the pandemic. It has been difficult for everyone concerned and I would like to pay tribute to our members and hard working committee for their resilience through-out these past few months. Because of the reduced numbers at the captains day prize night, we were not able to express these views to all the members and committee alike. So I feel that I should relay these feelings in another way and to thank the members for the fantastic turn out on captains day. It was very pleasing to have so many members and particularly our new members on the day and what turned out to be very competitive occasion and what seemed a happy occasion to. I would like to congratulate all the winners including our Lady members and Juniors who will be presented with their prizes this coming Saturday evening. It is also fitting that I should thank our Honorary Secretary and Honorary Treasurer for the sterling work they put in every year and not just this year. Also to the committee who give up their time each month to try and make the difference in a positive way for our club.
There are some things that we do not have any control of but we do make an effort.
I would also like to thank our members for supporting our charity (Portadown Panthers) On the day we raised over £900 which is an unbelievable amount and will be very much appreciated by the panthers.
Finally, well done to our club teams this season for the effort they have given representing our club. It is with pride and pleasure that we can report the fact that we have reached the quarter-finals of the Ulster Cup after tremendous victories against Lurgan and more recently Armagh. Well done guys, no mean achievement. Enjoy the last few weeks of the season and we can look forward to more club competitions coming into the winter months.
