It looks like we are having the beginnings of an indian summer, it’s usually the wrong thing to be saying but I am pretty sure the weather isn’t going to change because I have put it in print.  It may change but I’m not taking responsibility for it…. so get out there and enjoy it while it lasts, I’ve ask for six weeks of sunshine so we may get six days?

Saturday’s competition was the long awaited PC.Com Team Scramble, our sponsor for this event was unavailable, I believe Mr Jason Wilson is somewhere around the Mediterranean…. enjoying himself!  However we carried on regardless in the pleasant conditions back home and a thoroughly enjoyable experience it was and as always very competitive.  There was an outright winning team with an excellent score of 50 points, that team was made up of Clive Currie, Stuart Treanor, Robert Treanor and Sean McCann having a h.cap of 5…. great stuff fellas!  In 2nd place was the 3 man team of Kevin McCoy, John Allen and Jonny McNabb who obviously played well as a three man team to get 48 points with their 6 h.cap.  Dessie Hughes, Davy McCrory, Jack Traynor and Richard Abbott were the 3rd placed team also picking up 48 points with a 5 h.cap, very well done to those top teams but there is only one winning team so hard luck to those in the chasing pack.

The Weekly Challenge sponsored by Murder Mystery NI was won by Jamie Stevenson with a great score of 43 points, Pat Keegan’s name has been creeping in occasionally with placings and section wins which suggests to me he is playing a tidy and consistent style of golf, Pat gets 2nd with 39 points.  Graham Moore was unfortunate to be nudged into 3rd place by Pat on a countback, 39 is still a decent round unlucky Graham.

The Junior 9 hole competition on Saturday was won by John Harrison, 2nd was Ben Currie and 3rd was Shea Williamson.  The 6 hole competition off the blue markers was Gaby Rackauskaite…. 18 points from 6 holes, no wonder she is moving up to the 9 hole competition.  A prize has been put up for the player of the month on the blue tees and the player of the month is Gaby, many thanks to Susan Hetherinton for her generous gesture, I’m sure it will be much appreciated!

The final event of the season will be the 1st Saturday in October and at present it is a club stableford competition, but checkout the noticeboard and around the computer sign in area for upto date details of events starting soon!  We don’t actually stop the golf we just move into a different season with different options….. so good luck and enjoy your golf!
