Well believe it or not it’s just about the end of our Summer as officially September is upon us and that as you all know is the start of Autumn, however the good news is…. school will be starting imminently therefore it’s almost a certainty that the weather will pick up!
Our Saturday competition was the Glenview Trophies Strokeplay event, despite the unpredictable nature of the weather we had a good turnout. Top of the leaderboard and winner of the Glenview Trophies stroke competition was Sean McCann shooting a round of 86 which gives Sean a nett 69…. well done Sean it’s good to see you up at the top again. Noel Cooke is another man who you just cannot keep down, Noel had an 87 nett 71 for 2nd place. Patrick McCrory is yet another one of those golfers who frequents the top of the leaderboard, a round of 85 nett 72 gets Patrick 3rd spot. The best gross was Jamie Mulholland’s round of 76 shots! The best senior score was James O’Hagan’s 87 nett 76, I don’t know what this man is taking but I want some of it, it’s his lowest h.cap since he started playing golf and he is still competitive….keep it going!
Section winners were Jonny McNabb 0-12, Rodney Clarke 13-18, Eddie Millar 19+, front 9 was Alistair Harrison and back 9 went to Darren Wilson. Very well done all the prize winners, better luck next time for the rest of us!
The Weekly Challenge sponsored by Murder Mystery NI had a convincing and clear winner this week, Graham Moore produced a score of 45 points which was way ahead of the field, next best was Dennis Glass with 39 points and 3rd was Dessie Hughes with 37 points. Only 2 two’s…. both by Graham Moore!
There was no junior competition at the weekend, instead they had a friendly match against Killymoon. Both Nathan Agg and Daniel Brown excelled in their matches to get a win against their individual opponents. Week 8 of the Thursday sweep, the winner was Daniel Brown he also scooped the overall sweep prize with Ben Currie having the next best overall score…! Player of the month for August was Nathan Agg, 2nd Daniel Brown and 3rd Ben Currie. Well done lads! Also a big hand to Clive Currie the Junior Convenor and his small band of minions who help Clive out from time to time, the future of the club is in your hands and it’s looking bright!
We still need more people entering the newly formed Foursomes competition which runs from Sunday to Friday, so get yourselves organised and start putting some scores together. Anyone looking information regarding the Foursomes or the Jimmy Bruen or indeed the Pierce Purcell which are all the same format but slightly different entry/eligiblity requirements, please contact Jason Wilson who is next years Jimmy Bruen team captain!
Good luck and enjoy your golf!
