In preparation for the Jimmy Bruen Foursomes Competition which is to be held at Loughgall next year we will be giving everyone a greater opportunity to acquaint themselves with the format.  The computer is already set up showing a new Foursomes Event which will run each week from Sunday to Friday in the same way as the Weekly Challenge.  Foursomes is an alternate shot format which is used in both the Jimmy Bruen and the Pierce Purcell events, these are competitions that we as a club enter each year.  The Jimmy Bruen requires the pairing to have a combined handicap of no less than 17 with the minimum handicap no lower than 6, generally you decide who is going to tee off on the odd numbers leaving the other player in the pairing to tee off from the even numbered holes, once teed off the same ball is played by each player taking alternate shots until that hole is completed.  It is important to grow this event to give ourselves a decent chance of qualifying in this competition when we are the hosts early next year.  Also there will be a foursomes competition held at the end of this month….Sunday 30th August with further dates to be arranged.  Jason Wilson is the team captain for next years Jimmy Bruen team, all queries should be directed to Jason who will be more than happy to give advice or clarify any areas which need explained.  Please give this competition a real chance by turning out as regularly as possible, even try changing your partners to see what works best…. hey you just might be good at it!
