The word is summer is imminent…. so prepare to enjoy it because we never know how long it is likely to last, however on Saturday in the Lombard Trophy Qualifier there were signs the rumour is probably true! Oh did I mention the pleasant breeze that turned up for the day, it was substantial at times….quite a lot of the time actually, but some of us coped better than others. Simon Wallace had a good day despite the fluctuating conditions, his score of 83 set him apart from the rest of the field, playing off a 20 handicap gives Simon a nett 63, well done Simon you are off to the K Club mate…. and you are now playing off 17 h.cap! Darren Wilson had the best gross, Willie Crozier came 2nd with a nett 73 and Jonathan Faulkner was 3rd! The best score by a senior was that of Dennis Glass! Section winners were 0-12 John Allen, 13-18 Willie Gracey, 19+ Jonathan Agnew, front nine goes to Richard Abbott and the back nine was won by Dessie Hughes! Well done the prize winners!
The Nutmeg Treasures sponsored Wednesday Sweep was won by Ian Magill who is enjoying a fine spell of good form at the moment….with Dean Chambers taking the runner-up position. Good golf lads!
The Weekly Challenge sponsored by Murder Mystery NI was won by Willie Camblin with an excellent score of 44 points, once again Dennis Glass has his name in the running….41 points gets Dennis 2nd place, Stephen Mullen came 3rd on 39 points!
The Junior 18 hole competition played on Saturday was won by Ben Currie with 33 points, runner-up was Daniel Brown… well done lads!
The Ulster 4 ball team could only achieved a half, both Loughgall and Foyle had two and a half points each, which means the fellas have their work cut out to bring back a win from Foyle, but still definitely do-able!
Our Ulster Cup team were up against an inform Spa team at Spa, 4.5-2.5 down after the first leg,but we have to show them our true colours when they play us at home this Saturday at 3.30. Good luck fellas…we have complete confidence in the team to produce the goods!
Good luck and enjoy your golf!
