Saturdays competition was a club stableford event, the weather was pleasant and the course in great condition so there was no excuse for playing poor golf?  The course was set-up long, most of the tees were placed well back, but when there is a bit of run on the fairways you still have a chance to do well.  There were several scores of 42 points but only one score of 43 and that was our winner David Kelly with an excellent score playing off a 13 handicap, very well done David!  Runner-up was 15 handicapper Rodney Clarke a point behind, with young Seamus Golding squeezed into 3rd place playing off 13.  Jonathan Hewitt once again gets the best gross score with his round of 76 playing off a 5 h.cap.  You have to give Jonathan his fair dues he is very consistant and the benefit of playing regularly with some seasoned golfers really seems help his game 😉 well done mate!

Section winners were Neal Breen 0-12, Aaron Norman Agg 13-18, Thomas Lavery 19+, front nine was won by Jack Traynor and the back nine goes to Stephen McKenna.  The best senior score was that of Willy McWilliams with a more than creditable 40 points!

The Wednesday Sweep sponsored by Nutmeg Treasures was won by our Vice-Captain Eddie Millar…. well done Eddie!

The Weekly Challenge also had some good scores, Eddie Millar was once again in the mix but it was 3rd place for Eddie with 41 points. The winning score of 42 points was also scored by the runner-up… Noel Cooke was unfortunately beaten on a countback by the winner Aaron Norman Agg… well done, excellent scoring fellas!

The Sunday Sweep held on the 13th July was won again by Aaron Norman Agg…. this is beginning to sound like a sales pitch for Mr Agg!  Well done… Norms in form!

LGC Sam Rutherford team played Killymoon at home on Sunday and won by 1 hole, a tight match but a win for Loughgall all the same, good result!

Also playing at home on Sunday were our Ulster 4 ball team, the 2nd leg against Faughan Valley needed Loughgall to overturn a 3-2 defeat from the previous week.  The team had a job to do and went about their business with ruthless efficiency… 5-0 was the result and a fantastic overall win to put Loughgall into the last 8 of the competition.  Loughgall golf club would like to wish Faughan Valley all the best in their future endevours and hope they enjoyed their short time at our course.  Well done Team Captain John Currie who seems to be doing all the right things with a great Ulster 4 Ball squad… and its still all ahead of you, one step at a time fellas!

Check out the club notice board for those of you wanting to play on Captains Day, get your name on the list asap.  Satuday’s competition is the Darren Clarke Trophy Qualifier, I would expect a very good turnout for this event.  Good luck and enjoy your golf!
