There were a number of competitions being played over the weekend, Loughgall’s Pierce Purcell team were in action at Silverwood golf course and i would like to say it was very successful, but the truth is we fell well short of the mark. A very late dropout caused a problem which left us unable to call on a suitable handicap match-up for the fifth pair. Two other LGC teams were playing elsewhere which reduced the pool of candidates available to play. The team members that played had mixed fortune, the pairing i watched played steady but the putts did’nt drop, another pairing had an unlucky start from the 1st tee box. Our most successful pairing was that of past captain Graham Buckley and Kris Hunniford with a score of 88, a decent round… we just needed three more!
John Currie was the team captain of the Ulster fourball who took on Royal Belfast and produced an excellent 3.5-1.5 result, well done John and the boys!
Jason Wilsons Holt Shield team played away to Clandeboye and found it tough to produce the goods against a decent home team, the score was 4.5-0.5 to Clandeboye, better fortune in your next match fellas.
Patrick Keegan was this weeks winner of the Weekly Challenge…. well done Pat!
