Saturday saw our first sponsored event of the official season, the Saltmarine Motors Stableford event is a well established competition and generally well supported, this proved to be the case again with nearly 90 recorded entries and an excellent score for the winner Jackson Ruddock!  Forty six points from the inform Mr Ruddock who was two clear of second place David Murray who had a score of 44 points, a score which on another occasion would be good enough to win.  Only two behind Mr Murray on 42 points was Harvey Park!  Harvey is no stranger to the leaderboard and it looks like he is continuing in the same vein as last season.  John Allen the mushroom of Loughgall… having been quiet during the winter months he has come out of the dark and flourished, in the last two competitions he has shown he still has what it takes to compete for the prizes, this week Mr Allen takes the best gross score….well done!  Kenny Mitchell takes the best Seniors prize with a score of 40 points!

Section winners are: George Lockhart 19+, Jack Traynor 13-18, Davy McCrory 0-12, front nine goes to Kenny Todd, back nine was won by Andy Matthews.  There were 11 recorded twos and they were by A.Magill, S.Wilson, M.Gilpin, S.Thompson, W.Young, Kyle Holmes had a brace on holes 13 & 15 and the man of the moment was Jackson Ruddock with twos on holes 5, 11 & 15!  Very well done all those in the prizes, especially Jackson Ruddock for his fine display of golf and the first win of the season!

The very first Weekly Challenge Stableford event for 7th April was won by Malachy Cullen with 39 points, Denis Lavery had the only two.  Well done fellas!

Loughgalls Ulster Cup team paid a visit to Moyola Park in the first leg of the draw, Harry Clougher played well enough to win his match 4&3 and Aaron Agg won his match 2&1 but unfortunately Moyolas experienced team proved too much at home for the remaining Loughgall players and the final score ended up 5-2 to Moyola Park. However its only half time, the return leg at Loughgall will be on 27th April where we hope to show Moyola park a warm welcome….its still all to play for!

Loughgall golf club has more competitions than in previous seasons this means greater choice, so each week you can choose a competition which suits the times you are available to play!  Saturday will generally be a sponsored stableford or strokeplay event, Sunday will be a stableford competition and Monday to Friday is the weekly challenge stableford event which is just a winner only payout (plus twos) played off the green markers, a non-qualifying competition….worth winning!  As the evenings stay lighter longer and the gates remain open until later the Wednesday Sweep will begin, its only the first nine holes but it has proved very popular in recent years and is usually well supported.  In addition to the competitions mentioned we also have the Scratch Cups, the Singles and the Doubles matchplay competitions and… we are entered into many inter-club competitions, so there are opportunities for club members of all handicaps to represent Loughgall Golf Club.  All you have to do is play well in any of the previously mentioned events and the team captains will be eager to bring you into the group of players he will choose his team from….oh yes and enjoy yourself!

Lets hope we get the good weather we are due, good luck and enjoy your golf!
