Armagh-20130921-00126Graham Buckleys Captains Drive event took place on Saturday, the shotgun start got everyone away at 9am on the dot.  There was plenty of support for the team event which takes place every year with the proceeds going to charity!

The weather held up quite nicely, maybe not much sunshine but it stayed dry for the golf and that is always a big plus.  There were a mixture of 3 balls and 4 balls out on the course, only the best two scores counted at each hole.  So to even  the difference between the teams the 4 balls played off 3 quarter their h.cap and the 3 balls played full h.cap.  The winning team was a 3 ball…. Seamus Golding, Stephen Mullen and Harvey Park, their winning score of 103 points was more than good enough to see off the chasing pack and they thoroughly deserved their win, well done fellas!

Colin Jeffers got the captains drive prize for driving closest to the captains ball, both narrowly missing the bunker…. obviously it was exactly where our captain had intended….?

There was refreshments when the teams came back and plenty of banter, the general consensus was it turned out to be an excellent competition and very enjoyable.

Thanks to Cecil Brownlee our starter for the day and all that helped behind the scenes and a special thank you to Graham Buckley our captain who will be donating money raised to a charity of his choice!

The next competition is Sponsored by Saltmarine Motors, this is the last competition of the official season so it should be a big turnout!

Please check the notice board for details of the winter league and make sure your name is on the sheet if you want to play because it will be drawn soon!  Also check out details for the team challenge which will be found on the notice board too!  Good luck and enjoy your golf!
