Unfortunately our Irish four-ball team under the captaincy of Adrian Faulkner exited the competition in the first round. They travelled on Sunday the 14th. to 2016 winners Blacklion on what turned out to be a wet, cold and windy day. The strong Blacklion team and the conditions and sanded greens proved to much and they went down five nill. The return leg was played on Saturday the 20th with Blacklion only being able to field four pairs. This gave the home side a real chance of progressing. All matches were played in the right manor with some great golf from both sides. To of the home side won there matches 5 & 4 with one being dormay 2 up when called in. The first pairing had been under pressure from the start with the Blacklion pair being 1 under after 5 holes. They put on a great fight to get back level and to take the lead by the turn, whoever their opponents were just to strong and they finally lost the match on the 17th hole.
The team captain Adrian Faulkner and the players would like congratulate the green keeping staff on how well the course was looking and how well the greens were playing.
After the match both teams enjoyed a meal in Loughgall football club.
Team captain Adrian Faulkner would like to thank his team for the commitment to the club in putting there names forward to play and represent the club. We had a couple of first time team players and I hope that they enjoyed their first experience and of inter club golf and that it will encourage other members to have a go. Thanks also to club captain Jason Wilson for giving up his time to come and support us at both matches.
Finally we wish Blacklion good luck in the next round.
