Cecil Brownlee won the previous week in the winter league with 47 points, it’s hard to top that excellent score… unless you are Cecil Brownlee! This week Cecil wanted to show us mere mortals that he still has room for improvement, his score of 48 points leaves all the other players with excellent scores thinking about giving up the game. They thought they were good enough until Cecil started on his purple patch a few weeks ago, at the moment Cecil is the Tiger Woods of the winter league. Unless he eases up on those in the chasing pack the result is all but written into the history books as far as the best individual player is concerned. The question is can he keep this display of golf going? Who will be good enough to keep Brownlee at bay….?
Results of week 5…. Cecil Brownlee 48 points, the next best was Seamus Golding with 42 points and the next best points scorer overall, but it was Johnathan McNabb with a round of 78 who had the best gross score. There were several scores in the low 40s so there are some good scores being produced but only 3 more weeks remaining in the winter league. Check the notice board in the club for more details!
The quiz was held on Friday past, it turned out to be a very good evening and despite the poor turnout from club members £200 was raised for our club captain Graham Buckley`s chosen charity, it really could have been a lot more. A big thank you to all those that made the effort to come on the night.
Thanks to Hoggs Bar who provided an excellent buffet and to those who kindly donated the prizes! Paddy Morgan put himself forward to do the work of marking and checking the answer sheets and what a good job he made of it, he kept the quiz night running smoothly all night, many thanks Paddy!
Good luck and enjoy your golf!
