The Trustees Stableford Event proved to be very popular with a big turnout on Saturday and some excellent scores in the process. The weather was good and the course is getting better with the dryer conditions although the threat of the next shower never seems that far away. The ground staff are doing an excellent job in difficult circumstances and with captains day approaching fast we all hope for better weather.
A great result for Stephen Thompson who came in 1st with 42 points off a 17 handicap, 2nd place but beat on the countback was Conleth Kerr, well done, but you were very unlucky Conleth!
Stephen is in a fine vein of form at the moment, last week he won his handicap section and this week the outright winner. Stephen is also through to both the semi-finals of the singles and doubles matchplay knockout competitions, with Captains Day on 28th this could be perfect timing and potentially a fantastic season in the making for Stephen Thompson.
Third place goes to Spencer Lawson with 40 points, Eamon Gorman was beat on the countback as he also had an excellent score of 40 points to take 4th place.
The best Gross score goes to Jonathan Hewitt and thats not a one off, he has collected the best gross a number of times, thats good consistant scoring!
Fionntan Nixon had the best juvenile score of the competition well done Fionntan!
Section winners:0-12 John Currie, 13-18 William Turner, 19-28 Alan Ball, front 9 Stephen Crowe and back nine goes to Johnny Lockhart.
There were nine 2s recorded and they go to Michael Connor, Glen Vennard, Aaron Aag, Dave Chadwick, Seamus Golding, Eamon Gorman, Leslie Lyttle, Raymond Henry and finally Harry Proctor, very well done to all the prize winners and better luck next time to the rest of us!
I`m sure everyone knows by now its Captains Day this coming Saturday, the time sheet is on the notice board and on the website so please check your tee time and make every effort to be on time. On time means being at the 1st tee box ready to play at least 5 minutes before you are due to tee off, make sure you are signed-in at the computer before going to the tee box. Your competition fee will be taken at the starters hut.
This is the biggest and most prestigeous competition of the year and always proves to be a favourite with a huge turnout on the day, with many a story to be told at the presentation of the prizes and evening meal in the Famous Grouse and usually a few more stories to be told after that!
I would like to wish Club Captain James O`Hagan an enjoyable and successful captains day and hope all his guests both playing and those attending the Famous Grouse enjoy our Loughgall hospitality.
Good Luck to All…..Enjoy your day, enjoy your golf!
