The first of two turkey trots were held on Saturday and although the recorded entries were down from a regular competition week the loyal group of golfers who make the effort each week were there to support the competition, they really are the back bone of Loughgall golf club and very much appreciated. Our winner this week with 41 points was Aaron Agg, a well deserved win. Aaron has been playing very steady for a while now so its no surprise to see him walk away with the winning turkey, thats not a derogatory reference to his constant golfing companion Willie Turner but the fact that a turkey was the prize to be won this week….lol. Second place goes to that ban…. sorry our club captain Graham Buckley who scored 39 points and deserved the ham for his efforts, Graham really did bring home the bacon…. oh dear. Unlucky all those who entered the competition but didn’t win anything, maybe your name is on the turkey in next Saturday’s competition? Last week saw Derick Hynes take all the money for the only two in the competition, but unfortunately for Barry Rayner who had the only two this week… nothing, for some strange reason two’s are not rewarded in the turkey trot. Unless the santa has a word with the competitions convener xmas will be just thinking on what could have been….. its a cruel life?
Just a word about the excellent condition of the course for the time of year and the transformation of many of the holes by the extensive pruning of the trees. I could ask the question why this was not done long ago but that may sound somewhat churlish. It has made the course much more attractive and appealing especially to potential new members or societies thinking of adding loughgall to their event calendar…. well done loughgall green keepers!
Remember the last Saturday before Christmas is the final turkey trot so try and get yourselves organised for this the last chance to win a turkey or a ham…. but no two’s! Take care, good luck and enjoy your golf!
