Saturday was a strokeplay competition, generally speaking its often believed to favour the consistancy of the lower handicap players as you cannot afford to have a real bad hole and expect to do well. Bearing that in mind, just take note of the handicaps of those players who were in the prizes this week…?
1st prize goes to William Stewart shooting a 91 off a 23 h.cap…nett 68, 2nd Stephen Graham 79 off an 11 h.cap…nett 68, 3rd Brian Teague off a 16 h.cap…nett 70.
Gross prize goes to Jonathan Hewitt with a 79. Section winners were; 0-12 Stephen Mullen with an 83 playing off 11…nett 72, Willie Turner was best in the 13-18 section with an 87 off 16…nett 71 and Norman Stewart took the 19-28 with a 94 off 23…nett 71. Best front 9 goes to Wayne Crawford and best back 9 was won by Nigel Magowan.
Players who were lucky or skilful enough to get a score of 2 at any hole were; Dave Chadwick, Davy Coote, Andy Currie, Aidy Simpson, Ian Magill and last but certainly not least Alan Parr, these players can expect some remuneration for their efforts.
Well done to all those in the prizes and better luck next time to all that entered but never performed as well as expected on the day. It takes many to make a good competition not just the winning few!
By the way, did anyone notice the winning handicaps… not many single figure men taking prizes this week!
