The Winter League started on Sunday 8th October and runs from Sunday to Saturday each week, please check the notice board to see what team you are in.
It may be the start of the Winter League but John Allen finished off the summer season in some style scoring 44 points off his 10 handicap, it`s good to see John back to his best. John was 3 points clear of 2nd place Mark Gilpin who scored 41 points off his 21 handicap, 3rd was Harry Clougher with 40 points playing off 11, Willie McWilliams took 4th spot with 39 points off 18 h.cap, very well done fellas!
The best juvenile score goes to Adam Proctor with 40 points playing off 12 h.cap. Section winners were 0-12 Derick Hynes, 13-18 Malachy Cullen and 19-28 Raymond Henry. There were 11 two`s recorded and they were by Walter Beattie, Stephen Crowe, Mark Gilpin, Seamus Golding, Nicholas Salley, Clive Currie, Neil Orr and both Sam Jenkins & John Allen had 2 two`s each.
Well done to those who won prizes and better luck to the rest next time. I would like to thank all our members for making our competitions so successful and competitive, without your continued support we would not have a club…. many thanks!
A correction to a previous report where I mentioned Derick Hynes & Jonathan McKnight were Champions of the Four Nations Challenge, I had stated they were the Ulster Champions, they are actually All Ireland Champions in this competition and went on to win the Four Nations Challenge. Derick has informed me that the final was covered by Sky TV and will be first viewed on the 15th of October, for more details of the tv viewing times contact Derick or Jonny I am sure they will be only to pleased to give you all the details and possibly a running commentary too! They may even record it and make those copies available to anyone on request…..seriously though fellas, very well done! I for one will be watching it when it comes on Sky.
The best of the contingent of golfers who went over to St Andrews from Loughgall was Adam Kerr who tied 3rd in very blustery conditions, it was a wonderful experience for all those who were lucky enough to be playing at the home of golf and watching the final day of the Ryder Cup in the evening made the occasion particularly memorable.
The Winter League has begun, please make every effort to get out and play your round of golf to do the best for your team each week. In the past some of the golfers who have entered have missed weeks and only contributed to their team occasionally, if you enter the competition and dont play you will most definitely be letting your team down, to contribute to your team make sure you play each week!
Enjoy your golf, enjoy the winter league.
