Wet wet wet were a great band, however the wet in question here was the continuous rain we all woke upto on Saturday morning, the rain didn’t ease until midday ish. Weather like that we have not seen for some months now and although it’s needed I am going to put in a formal request that all rain takes place at night! Seriously though it had a big affect on the competition, the number of golfers who entered were well down compared to previous weeks. Those who did brave the conditions deserve credit for their efforts.
A whole paragraph and we are yet to mention our winner Harvey Park. Well Harvey is a relatively new member but he has been on the leaderboard on a number of occasions, infact only last week he featured in the prizes. Harvey went around the course taking 88 shots, playing off a 19 h.cap gives him a nett 69, that was a better nett score by 2 from 2nd place Keith Campbell who had a nett 71. Third place was Willie Turner who also had a nett 71 but was beaten on the countback, unlucky Willie! Johnny McNabb scored the best gross score with a 78 ! Barry Rayner took the senior prize.
Section winners were Stephen Graham 0-12, Darren Wilson 13-18, Nigel Hutchinson 19+, Chris Campbell had the best front 9 and Brian McGuigan the best back 9. There were only five 2s this week and they were Adam Kerr, Nigel Hutchinson, Brian McGuigan, Willie McWilliams and last but not least young Aaron Agg.
Just a mention of the charity event for Parkinson’s UK which was held at our course on Friday past, all went well and money was raised for a good cause, well done the organizers and everyone that took part. Oh and by the way the winner was Sam Jenkins scoring 48 points, although we played off the green tees that gross score of 68 equals the course record….. well done Sam, now you just have to do it off the white tees mate!
Well done all those who were in the prizes, especially Harvey and Keith who have both lost a shot off their h.cap for their efforts and good luck to those who didn’t do as well as they would have liked, better luck next competition.
The next competition is Saturday and kindly sponsored by PC.com, all being well the weather will be better than Saturday past so we want a big turnout for the upcoming stableford event. Good luck and enjoy your golf!
