A Return to Winning Ways for Mr Chadwick

Mixed fortune with the weather this week, it was very wet underfoot from the earlier downpours, but it could have been a whole lot worse on the day if the skies had really opened up, instead we got away with showers.

Poor weather for the time of year it maybe but it was a good day for Dave Chadwick, 39 points was good enough to win the Glenview Trophies stableford competition and Dave managed to beat two other players on 39 points due to the countback. Dave is one of our lower handicappers on 9, correction thats 8 now with that win under his belt, well done mate I hope this will be the beginning of your come back! The other two players on 39 points were Anthony McElmeel in 2nd and Alan Mills in 3rd position, good scoring fellas just a bit unlucky. Fourth position went to Dennis Glass with a very good 38 points, again not far away from the lead and I bet you can think back to a chip or putt that would have made all the difference…. if only Dennis if only!

The best Gross score goes once again to Jonathan Hewitt and the best juvenile score was once again Adam Proctor well done lads. Section winners were Wayne Crawford 0-12, Willie Young 13-18, Sam Duffy 19-28, front 9 goes to Brendan Morgan and the back 9 goes to Barry Rayner. There were 15 two`s recorded and they were by Dave Chadwick, Stephen Crowe, John Currie, Andy Currie, Dennis Glass, Seamus Golding, Nigel McCorry, Jonny McKnight, Johnnie McNabb, Eugene Scullion, Nigel Kerr, Stephen O`Connor, Willie Young, Barry Rayner and last but not least our captain JamesO`Hagan. A very well done to all the prize winners and better luck next time to everyone else.

Just a mention about Derick Hynes & Jonathan McKnight who had entered themselves into the Four Nations Golf Competition which is a 2 ball better ball format, they made progress through a number of rounds and played in the Ulster Final of that competition this week against a pairing from Greenisland. I am very pleased to say they have won the Ulster region and go on to play at The Oxfordshire Golf Course in England, against the champions of Scotland, Wales and England, this will take place about mid september. Thats a great achievement fellas, well done and good luck in the final we are all behind you…. we may not hear the end of it if you win… Ha! Seriously though we are rooting for you big time!

This Saturday`s competition is sponsored by SIMGOLF 365 and is a strokeplay format, if this weather continues the way it is maybe you should give SIMGOLF 365 a try one of these wet days, its certainly worth a visit….and its dry. Enjoy your Golf!
