Ian wins the Fred Daly Memorial competition at Loughgall

Well the first Saturday competition of August was the Fred Daly Memorial which saw a decent turnout, strokeplay events usually attract fewer entries but it was quite good considering August can be a very popular month for people going on holiday. With the limited amount of sunshine we have been getting this year its surprising more people are not getting away to warmer climes.

The winner of the Fred Daly Memorial was none other than Ian Magill (one half of the almost identical Magill twins) with a score of 85 playing off a 16 handicap thats a nett 69. Ians score beats two other nett 69s into 2nd and 3rd place on the countback thats Kevin McCoy and Edwin Atkinson respectively. Fourth was our own Vice-Captain Graham Buckley with an 87 playing off 17… a nett 70.

Thats very little between the top four places, well done to all of you but especially to Ian Magill who I`m sure would agree that he has not seen the top of the leader board very often this season, maybe this is the start of a purple patch for you….. fingers crossed!

The best Gross score goes to Jamie Wortley with a 78, excellent scoring Jamie, it looks like you pipped Jonny McNabb who also had a 78.

The best juvenile score was an 86 nett 72 by Adam Proctor, well done Adam your in the prizes again.
Section prizes go to Stephen Mullan 0-12, Alan McCartney 13-18 and Nigel McGowan 19-28, the front nine was won by Sam Jenkins and the back nine by Harry Clougher, very well done fellas and its good to see past Captain Harry Clougher enter the prizes once again.

There were only six 2s recorded and they were by Adam Kerr, Edwin Atkinson, Harry Clougher, Davy McRoberts, Clive Currie and last but not least Barry Rayner well done!

There is little more to say other than this coming Saturdays competition is sponsored by MJM Design and is a stableford format, good luck & enjoy your golf!
