Week 3 of the winter league has been played and the scores are in, as with the previous weeks there are some very good individual performances.  The best score of week 1 was Matthew Andrews 45 points, week 2 it was Steve Wall with 46 points and week 3 the bar has been raised yet again by Cecil Brownlee’s 47 points which was five shots better than anyone else this week.  Sam Jenkins had the best gross score with a round of 74, so both Cecil and Sam gain a bonus point for their team.  There were 10 two’s recorded in week 3, they were by Denis Glass, Aaron Agg, Davy Coote, Willie Turner, Mark Placitt, Barry Rayner and a brace of two’s for both Stephen Wilson and Cecil Brownlee! Very well done to all who were in the points and prizes.

Here are the collective points for week 3 for each team, lowest to highest:

Robinson’s Castaways=126, Raynermen=147, Hunniford Stingers=151, Agg Heads=153, Ball Bashers=154, GoldingOldies=163.

The team positions after three weeks are as follows:

1st) Agg Heads=27pts, 2nd) Hunniford Stingers=24pts, 3rd) Golding Oldies=23pts, 4th) Ball Bashers=18pts, 5th) Both Raynermen & Robinson’s Castaways=11pts.

We are not yet at the halfway stage so it can all change, even those teams at the top can have a bad week… most teams will have at least one poor week.  So don’t be too quick to right off the teams in the bottom half of the table, it’s still very do-able if the team has spirit and everyone turns out to play their round each week!

Another reminder about the Quiz held at Hoggs Bar… Friday 8th November at 8pm sharp!  Only 4 persons in a team and the entry is £10 a team, there will be a prize for the winning team, proceeds go to charity.  Anyone and everyone will be welcome, even if you think you won’t know anyone just come along and enjoy the evening, it’s usually good fun even without the questions.

Good luck and enjoy your golf!
