It has been excellent weather for golfing this week but for one person it was far too easy, 48 points from Adrian Simpson set him apart from everyone else playing in Saturdays competition. Eight points clear of 2nd place Sam Jenkins on 40 points, also on 40 points in 3rd place was Ian Magill, both good scores but Adrian was just on fire! That fine display of golf, 25 on the front and 23 points on the back has earned Adrian a cut from 17 to 14 handicap. Well done Adrian a couple of wins earlier in the year shows it was no fluke, on your day you can produce the goods! Enjoy your new handicap?
The best gross score was Adam Kerr`s 72! Section winners were Mark Placitt 0-12, Davy McRoberts 13-18, Jonathon Faulker 19 plus, front 9 goes to Ronald Gillis and back 9 to Stephen O`Connor.
The best senior score was Willie McWilliams with 37 points and the best junior was Adam Proctor scoring 39 points.
There were a number of 2s, eight infact and they were by Mark Placitt, Christopher Campbell, Ian Magill, Eugene Scullion, Willie Young, James Cunningham, Adam Proctor and finally Robert Treanor! Very well done to all the prize winners and better luck next time to the also ran!
We must get these Doubles, Singles and Scratch Cup matches played, any match not played by end of the day on Sunday 14th July which have gone past the date to be played by, are likely to find they are out of that competition…. Names of those in danger of not getting matches played are; Sam Jenkins, Derick Hynes and their doubles partners, Seamus Golding v Aaron Agg, Davy Coote v Michael Connor, Adam Kerr v Eugene Scullion, Michael Connor v Stephen Mullen, Alan Ball v Gary Lavery, Aaron Agg v Stephen Crowe, Graham Buckley v Jeff Armstrong, Seamus Cunningham v Michael Hook and anyone else who I may have missed….you have had more than enough time to play your matches. You have been warned.
The course is firming up now giving plenty of run to the ball just what we have been looking forward to, the course in these conditions is a real pleasure to play. Slight adjustments to the rough have been implemented by our hard working ground staff and much appreciated, but keep it on the fairway to give yourself a chance of a good score. Once again we had a great turn out this weekend so keep it up and enjoy your Golf!
