Adams excellent gross 71 was the best of the day, shooting one under par is a great round of golf, Adam thoroughly deserves 1st prize, well done mate!  Kevin McCoy was 2nd with a nett 68, a nett 69 got Jeff Armstrong 3rd and Jonathan Hewitt had the best gross score!  The senior prize goes to Stephen Crowe and the best junior is Adam Proctor.  For info on the section winners and the 2s, please check the club results notice board near the computer.

The Holt Shield Team had a mixed weekend, after taking a good win against Helens Bay on Friday they played away to Templepatrick Hilton on Sunday and were beat 5-0, however it does not tell the whole story.  All the matches went very close but the result is still the same, unlucky fellas a little good fortune and the score could have looked a lot healthier!

A wee note… it was brought to my attention that Aaron Agg played his singles match against Kevin Keegan last week and in the process of winning that game he had a hole-in-one!  So there will be some financial benefits coming Mr Agg`s way, very well done and hard luck Kevin.  That wee windfall for Aaron will just about cover the cost of locking Willie Turners car keys in the boot…… hey it could have happened to anyone mate?

Once again the subject of the length of the rough comes into question, while everyone is pleased as punch with the condition of the course in general, the rough is an absolute eyesore.  Visiting teams have commented on the state of the rough, their experiences will be passed on to others and the word is Loughgall is a real gem of a course let down by the rough.  Being unfairly punished if you hit a stray shot will not bring golfers or societies back to Loughgall.  Its not a question of being difficult to get out of it, you will be very lucky to find it and in the process of looking for your ball the round becomes four and a half hours plus!  The argument is… you should not go in the rough, but it happens even to good golfers, we dont mean to…. but we are amateurs!  How many more golf balls are being lost, they cost money too!  Someone please tell me who thinks this is a good thing?  My apologies to the ground staff because I know they care about the course, its a shame all their good work is being overlooked because of the state of the rough.

A mention to any members that have not given their full details to the club…. if we dont have your details you wont get a prize should you do well?  Thank you for your cooperation.

Its a four man team event this week so make sure you have all four players available, its very difficult to win with only three players!  Good luck to all and enjoy your golf!
