Damp but not defeated, the competition is still keen at Loughgall
Saturday 14th July saw the Bank of Ireland sponsored strokeplay event take place and after the amount of rain that has fallen in the past few weeks its amazing the course was in any condition to stage the event. However the weather has relented a little, the intermittent spells of sunshine has helped, allowing the ground staff to do their best despite the ground being very wet. Many thanks for their efforts because without them we would not have been able to play golf at Loughgall this weekend.
The wet conditions didn’t seem to hamper the scoring of some players as the resuts will prove. First place goes to Jamie Mulholland with a nett 65 playing off a 14 handicap, thats you cut to 13 Jamie! Two shots behind in 2nd place was Jackson Ruddock playing off a 12 h.cap and now an 11 handicapper, with that excellent form I am sure you will do well at St Andrews mate. Also on 67 was Davy McCrory playing off 11 taking 3rd spot, another nett 67 from Willie McWilliams gets him 4th position and cut to 17 h.cap. Second, 3rd and 4th positions were all very close but there is no doubt about the winner, well done Jamie Mulholland!
The best Gross goes to Jonathan McKnight and the best juvenile was Harry McGeary, great scoring fellas!
Section winners were Brian McGuigan 0-12, Stephen Thompson 13-18, Sam Duffy 19-28, the front 9 goes to Stephen Mullan and the back nine goes to our club captain James O`Hagan who also happened to win the Wednesday Sweep just past. You know you cant win your own Captains Day James dont you?
There were ten 2s recorded and they were by Jackson Ruddock, William Stewart, John Allen, Anthony McElmeel, Jamie Mulholland, Jack Traynor, Harry Clougher, Raymond Henry, Jonny McKnight and Nicholas Salley. Very well done to all the prize winners and better luck next time to everyone else who entered but not successful
Anyone who is expecting to play on Captains Day 28th July must have their name written down on the sheet provided by the notice board, if you have not done so and you want to play you had better move quickly to avoid disappointment, the sheet has been on the notice board for weeks. If you check the website Stephen Mullan has posted the proposed time sheet for Captains Day.
Junior golfers of Loughgall, please check the notice board for information regarding singles competition.
This Saturday 21st July we have the Trustees Sponsored Event. As always…. Enjoy your Golf and keep entering the competitions!
