Wow, we have the makings of a real heatwave in Northern Ireland, I know I had mentioned the possibility of the heatwave but I’m an optimist and even I  am pleasantly surprised, it’s finally all coming together.  Fingers crossed we may get what most of us have been hoping for….. great golfing weather!

The Saturday competition was the Lombard Qualifier which usually gets a decent turnout and this was no exception.  The course was set up virtually as long as it could be and it shows in the scoring, the top score with 37 points and our winner is George Whyte!  Willie Gracey also had 37 points but beat on the countback, unlucky Willie but congrats to George Whyte….of course that means an adjustment to your h.cap now George, well done good win!  Third place went to Ryan Kennedy who carded a 36 points, just one behind.   The best gross score was that of Jonny Hewitt just three over the course and Cecil Brownlee had the best senior score of 36 points.  Section winners were Stephen Graham 0-12, Paul Hughes 13-18, Stephen McKenna 19+, front 9 went to Spencer Lawson and the back 9 was won by Alan Mills.  Well done fellas!

The Weekly Challenge sponsored by Murder Mystery NI was won by Jack Traynor with a great 42 points, that’s an excellent spell of form from Jack…. keep it up mate!  Speaking of mates… Brian Nixon is in Jacks fourball and is chasing Jack all the way just one point behind in 2nd place.  Simon Wallace came 3rd with 37 points, well done fellas!  I think Jack and Brian are now playing off 10 and 15 h.cap respectively…. good luck with that fellas!

The Junior 18 hole competition was won by Ben Currie with 48 points….48 points!  Second was Daniel Brown with an excellent 38 points and 3rd was another excellent score from Shea Williamson  just one point behind with 37 points.  Well done lads, terrific scoring!  Player of the month for May with a great performance was Ben Currie!  Second John Harrison and 3rd Luke Weir…. keep it going lads.

John Curries Ulster 4ball team played away at Down Royal Golf Club, a 4-1 loss means we have to show Down Royal our best golf when they play the 2nd leg at LGC.  Good luck fellas!

Enjoy your golf and the great weather… long may it last!
