As usual the first thing on the agenda is the weather, I’m sure some of you may be thinking there is a fixation with this subject?  The weather has a direct bearing on the playable condition of the course, the ability to produce the best round of golf and the enjoyment of your game, it also affects the number of entries to the competition and ultimately the prize money, so it’s an important factor which needs mentioning.  The weather this week has certainly been better than last week and the course is getting a bit dryer, but it is November so we can’t expect much better than we have been getting, infact it’s only a matter of time before we get the frosts affecting those early morning golfers!

It’s the penultimate week of the Armagh Potato Company sponsored Winter League and it has been a very competitive event, with a number of golfers pushing very hard to get their best scores in.  Any golfer hitting form in these last couple of weeks who are already in the top six places will do no harm to their chances of stealing the overall top prize!  This brings me nicely to this weeks winner…. well it’s a case of deja vu, Pat Keegan produced the best points score for the second consecutive week, his 43 points was one better than the runner-up that old stalwart of the game Harry Clougher.  It just shows that a bit of class and a steady dogged approach can get a fella a long way, well done to two of our more senior…or perhaps I should say more experienced golfers, you’re up there and in with a chance, fair play to you both.  Luck is temporary… quality stays with you!  Speaking of quality…. Sam Jenkins had the best gross score once again.

The 9 hole Junior competition was won by John Harrison with a very good 18 points, 2nd Ben Currie with 13 points which just pushed Nathan Ewert into 3rd place on a countback as Nathan also had 13 points.  Well done lads!
