The official start of the season is drawing near….its March 28th at 8.30 sharp! Its tradition to start the season with the Captains Drive and as usual it will be a shotgun start so keep checking the noticeboard to get your name down to confirm your place in the competition. Meanwhile we have the Weekly Challenge, our Club Stableford and the Team Challenge to contend with….roll on March 28th and good luck Captain Eddie Millar!
Results from the previous weeks Weekly Challenge: 1st William Camblin with an excellent score of 44 points, the best gross score was that of Aaron Agg. Well done fellas! The Club Stableford was won by Stephen Thompson with his score of 41 points, John Allen had a score of 39 points to take 2nd place, a point behind in 3rd place was our new club captain Eddie Millar. The best gross score was that of Ian Gordon……yes Ian Gordon….just 6 over the course.
Now to the Team Challenge…. Group 1; Willie Young Ones, played 2… 13 points. Ulster Cup Select, played 3… 5 points. Wilson Warriors, played 2… -7 points. Holtshielders, played 3… -11 points.
Group 2; Captains Select, played 2… 13 points. Ulster Cup, played 2… 2 points. Ulster 4 ball, played 2… -15. The remaining matches will be played this Saturday. The semi-final will be played Sunday week.
Just a note about the Clubhouse or no Clubhouse debate. There are several questions being asked about this…. all I can say is the list posted on the big club notice board is to see if there is interest and who would use the clubhouse. All other questions are irrelevent at the moment, if we have enough support for a clubhouse the club council will then discuss the findings. Nothing will happen without consultation of our members. The big question is… will a clubhouse benefit our club and our members and will you use it, beyond that its pure speculation?
A reminder to our members that your club subscription is due, thank you.
Good luck and enjoy your golf!
