Its the time of the year when weather conditions can be difficult to predict, we are likely to get the four seasons in one day or it could be unseasonably warm, there really is no telling what’s just ahead of us. Here at Loughgall Golf Club we have a hard core of golfers who venture out in the worst of weathers, you might call them seasoned campaigners, this is when the fair weather golfers hibernate…you will not see them until the daffodils start appearing again.  This also means you may see the same familiar names challenging for a win or a place on the leaderboard, there maybe fewer golfers in the mix compared to the summer but those who play are very competitive and deserve every bit of their win or place!

Speaking of familiar names the winner of Saturdays Club Stableford also done well last week in the Weekly Challenge, infact he got a hole-in-one and came 2nd.  Aaron Agg (sometimes known as Norman because of his storming or attacking style of golf) had a score of 37 points, an unusually low points score to win but it was better than anyone else on the course and thats all it needs to be.  John Allen also had 37 points but was unlucky to be beat on the countback!  Sam Jenkins had the best gross score of the competition.  There was only one 2 in the competition and that was had by Norman, thats a few more coppers in his account.  Very well done all those in the prizes, the rest will just have to get better!

This weeks Weekly Challenge was won with 44 points…. an excellent score produced by Patrick McCrory playing off an 18 handicap.  Dessie Hughes is another familiar name of recent weeks, his score of 42 points was good enough to push Aaron Norman Agg and his score of 41 points into 3rd place!  Well done fellas some good scoring, the other golfers can only admire your golfing prowess and hope to be there one day?

Please check the noticeboard for all the most upto date info, also nominations for anyone who may be interested in taking up a position on the club committee/council please make sure names are on the sheet as soon as possible.  The sheet is on the club noticeboard now and will be taken down on the 27th January.

The Indoor Winter League starts on Thursday 29th January, 8pm in Hoggs Bar.  Anyone can enter, your team must be made up of 3 people, it can be mixed gender and it is not limited to Loughgall Golf Club members infact you do not have to be a regular golfer to take part.  Although it will be competitive its meant to be fun too!  It costs just £2 per person each week and includes a putting competition and nearest the pin on Sim Golf.  We are hoping for good support for this our very first Indoor Winter League…. please give it a try its only a couple of hours of socialising and having some fun, you may surprise yourself and enjoy it.  Chances are you will and it will make the winter seem a little bit shorter!

Good luck and enjoy your golf!
