The weather has been most definitely wet, but there have been times during the week that would have allowed a relatively dry round of golf, at least from above if not under foot. If you are fortunate to be able to play a round of golf when the weather forecast gives its prediction of a good day then an advantage can be had. A good round of golf could be trying to achieve 36 points wereas on a day of good weather that same round of golf could be 40+ points, but that is the winter league for you…. unfortunately its played in winter! The course is quite wet in places but well done to the ground staff for their work which allows the course to remain playable, I know some other courses were closed… good job fellas!
There were some excellent scores this week but none better than Steve Wall`s 46 points which he played on the Saturday(a good weather day), there was a 44 points score from last weeks winner Andrew Matthews, brilliant scoring but I would think these two fellas are prime targets for a handicap cut. The best gross score went to Johnathan McNabb with his round of 73 shots, so that gains Johanathan a bonus point for his team along with Steve Wall for his team with the best score of the week, well done fellas! It should be mentioned that there were several other good scores over 40 points, so no one can relax the competition is fierce!
Team results for week 2 of the winter league are as follows, the team with the best four card were The Agg Heads with a collective 163 (11 points inc. bonus), 2nd were The Hunniford Stingers with a collective 161 (8 points), 3rd were The Ball Bashers with a collective 159 (6 points), 4th were The Goulding Oldies with a collective 157 (6 points inc. bonus), 5th were The Raynermen with a collective 155 (4 points), 6th were Robinsons Castaways with a collective 144 (3 points).
A couple of reminders, there is a sheet on the notice board for those of you interested in playing in the Team Challenge which will be in the new year so get your name on it soon to avoid missing out, places will be limited.
