It was good to see a big turnout for the PC.Com stableford competition, after the disasterous weather last Saturday affecting the numbers entering the Morgan Transport event. It was very unfortunate that such a good competition didnt get the weather it deserved.
It was a much better day for the weather and for Raymond Henry who is no stranger to the leaderboard, so it should be no surprise to see his name at the top once again. Raymonds 43 points put clear distance between him and the rest of the field. There were several scores of 40 points vying for 2nd place but the countback put Paul Lavery as runner-up with Simon Wallace pushed out to 3rd, very little between them. The best gross score was that of Brian McGuigan after completing his round in 77 shots! The best senior score of the day was from Seamus Golding.
Section winners were Stephen O`Connor 0-12, Harvey Park 13-18, Denis Glass 19+, front 9 went to Stephen Graham and the back 9 was won by William Stewart. Many of those names may seem very familiar…. I think we may see the axe falling soon on one or two of these names, watch this space……? Not so strange to see our winner cut by two shots then…. very well done Raymond!
There were fourteen 2s recorded and they were by W.McWilliams, AJ.Robinson, W.Beattie, S.Golding, S.Crowe, S.Wallace, R.Henry, W.Stewart, J.Agnew, W.Crozier with J.McNabb and HK.Park getting a brace each! Well done to all the prize winners, hopefully there will be a few new faces in the prizes of our next competition?
Our next competition is the Captains Drive on Saturday 21st, its a shotgun start so all those golfers playing this event will need to be at the starters hut prompt for 8.30am! Anyone who has not put their name on the sheet to play this competition but would like to play can contact Sam Jenkins on 07926 307016, there are a small number of places to be filled. Do not just turn up and expect to play as you are likely to be disappointed. The sheet with information regarding Saturdays starting line up will be put on the website asap, but when you check-in at the starters hut at 8.30 you will find out then and be directed to your starting tee!
The Winter League is not so far away, with that in mind a sheet has been put on the noticeboard for your names if you are wishing to play? Do not delay though as there will be a strict cut off point after which no more entrants will be accepted, that date will be posted shortly.
There has been no information regarding Sundays medal competition as yet but it is very likely that insufficient numbers entered due to the extreme weather conditions, I will update the website when info is available.
Just a small but important point to keep our course looking good, everyone can help just by picking up a discarded wrapper or plastic bottle and put it in the next bin you come across. Its simple but it works! Dont walk past it…. Bin It! Good luck and enjoy your golf!
