For the second time in 2013 we have a back to back winner, Andy Currie takes 1st prize with 42 points, thats four shots clear of 2nd place Davy McRoberts on 38 points. The course was quite wet under foot in places, but that didnt stop a reduced field entering the competition and as the day progressed the Sun came out to warm those that persevered.
Wayne Crawford took the prize for best Gross. There were only two 2s and they were by Andy Currie and Wayne Crawford.
What are the chances of Andy getting the triple? Three in a row has not yet been done at Loughgall Golf Club, so next week may see a little bit of history if Andy can keep his form and his nerve. Good luck mate we are all rooting for you!
Part of the reason for reduced numbers in our stableford club competition was the start of the Team Challenge, which has become a firm fixture in our golfing year. This event is the preparation for our inter-club competitions, it kick starts many of our players into the mindset required for competitive matchplay. Each team wants to win the event but it will be the competitive team spirit and experience gained here that hopefully bares fruit when the new 2013 season begins and that is the bigger picture.
